What are you trying to change? Do you scroll through your Facebook newsfeed and see things that tear your heart out or make your blood boil? Do you share and write statuses on what is wrong with this country and the people in it?
So, I ask you, what are you doing to make it different? When you post up the picture of the dying child or the homeless man on the street or the kid being bullied or the family that has nothing, do you ever actually do anything about it or do you just post about it? Do you make a plan to change how you do things? Do you make a plan to make a difference? Are you committed to change or are you just talking about it?
Social media gives everyone a platform. You can get on there and complain about bathrooms and gorillas and sex offenders and animal cruelty and anything else you want to bitch about. You can write eloquent posts or angry rants and get comments and likes and shared posts but, but what are you doing to change what you are upset about? Have you thought of a plan? Will you actually do something?
Here is the problem my friends, people get cranky and upset and they share and rant and rave and yet nothing ever changes! We are a peoples who are too lazy to make a difference in what we allegedly feel passionate about. We don’t want to rock any boats in real life. We don’t want to inconvenience ourselves to go out of our way to make a difference. We don’t want to use any of our resources or finances to help anyone else! We just want to post about it and hope that someone else changes things. We want change but we don’t want to change anything ourselves.
You can’t change anything if you don’t change! You can’t change the world by ranting on Facebook and then never actually doing anything in real life! You can share all the tear jerking videos and pictures and stories you want and state how the world needs to change but if you wont change, why should the world? If you don’t help the helpless, who will? If you don’t extend a hand to the fallen, who will?
It isn’t easy! It takes from you. It takes and it takes and there is not much return from the human race other than a few atta boys but most often it is just going to bed at the end of the day knowing that you made a difference for just that one person. It is like investing in long term stocks and knowing that the reward might not be until you are in a casket at the front of a overflowing church. It is being committed to do the right even when everyone else is walking away because you want to be the change!
If you care enough to write a post on Facebook, care enough to take an action. Be kind, have compassion, love the unlovable, give to the needy and find the lost, become what you feel passionate about! It isn’t enough to just post about it on Facebook. It isn’t enough to just wear the shirt! You have to be prepared, you have to plan, you have to take action!
It is hustle kindness Friday! Will you hustle or will you just wear the shirt?!
