“Less is More” week 4 – deads and back

I did not want to get up this morning and I dang sure didnt want to go to the gym!  I was calculating in my head how long it had been since I had had a deload week and thinking that maybe it is time to have one.  But I probably wont for awhile because I am not going to be out of town anytime soon and generally that is when I do my deloads.  So suffer through I will.  It isnt like I lift heavy enough to really warrant one anyway!

I did roll out of bed at 4:30 and was out the door before 6.

Back

deads

*245# for 3 sets of 10, 1 set of 9, 1 set of 6

I need to drop the weight back down and start resetting for each rep.  I know it is going to take longer but the whole purpose of this program is to get my form better and it is starting to fail again!  So, slow down Debbie and do what needs to be done.   I did wear my belt, which I know is a pitiful excuse for a belt, and it helped a ton with my lower back and not having it get so sore.

lat pulldowns

*70# for 5 sets of 10

I dropped the weight and really concentrated on using the lats, felt good.

seated v bar rows

*70# for 5 sets of 10

less weight and more concentrated effort on using the appropriate muscles.

Incline situps

*20 for 2 sets

As much as I didnt want to go, I was glad I went because it always feels better to get some exercise and do something.

It was another crazy day at the clinic.  We didnt have that many surgeries scheduled because we had a CCL repair to do and one cancellation but everything seemed to take forever and there was the usual monday morning rush of walk ins and sick dogs.

photo(337)We had a diabetic dog come in that had a stone stuck in its urethra and couldnt pee.  Amazingly enough his kidneyes were fine and we were able to mask him down and catheterize him without incident.

The owners opted to not do surgery because he is diabetic, old and not doing well.  Surgery would more than likely be followed by rapid decline and they didnt want that.

Then there were two fish hook dogs.  One a tiny yorkie that had it stuck in its lip and the second one had swallowed the hook and we had to do surgery on it.

This one was another old dog with a horrible heart murmur but he did decent through surgery so hopefully he will have a few good years left.

It is 5 and I am going to try and get out of here and go and get the dreaded treadmill done!
