The last thing we had to do yesterday was replace three vaginal prolapses in some young heifers. Now I will say that this presentation is unusual as these heifers are allegedly spayed as they are imported from mexico and are supposed to be unable to reproduce. Therefore this has to be a nutritionally caused issue. Not that anyone who is reading this actually cares but I am sure that anyone who might happen upon it and knows what a prolapse is is probably wondering why these small heifers are having this issue. Here in southeastern arizona we are very selenium deficient and it is common to have cows prolapse that are not pregnant.
Bama and Tyler were so excited to come and watch. They havent been around cows much and it makes it so much funner for me to have them around because they are anxious to help with a shitty job and willing to participate which is even better!
Have to say that I am glad I am not a cow!
The start of heifer number one, cleaning, as best as one can clean a gross dried out vagina.
Emptying the bladder makes it easier to push in!
Some pushing and shoving and it all goes back in!
Tyler holding it in while I get the sewing supplies ready.
Put Tyler to work pushing on the black one while I switched over to the other one.
This heifer had a rectal and vaginal prolapse so was significantly more bloody!! Glad they didnt use a needle that big on me when they were sewing me up!
My nails look awesome dont they?
Got to bed at a decent time and rolled out of bed at the usual time and was off to the gym before 6.

Our surgery schedule was not bad at all today and we were done before 11! Not that I mind surgery that goes past that as I like being busy but it is nice to be able to get caught up on my workout posts!
