Wednesdays are my off days from the gym and generally I dont post but we had a client from Tucson haul up a couple of horse this morning and Billie April took 227 pics so I figured I had best make it its own post or tomorrow there might be way too much to keep ones attention!
The first horse was a filly that was to be pinfired. Pinfiring is a technique where an area is treated for inflammation by burning it with a tip. I know it sounds terrible, to inflict damage to repair damage but it works! I got my pinfire machine from an old vet who was retiring who had bought it from an old vet years before that was retiring. All that to say it was a very old machine! About a year ago I had the guy who does our machine maintenance at the clinic said he could rewire it and repair it! I was so happy because it isnt like you can just get them at any supply place. He had it for a few months and shipped it back working like new. So this filly ran in the Kindergarten derby and took 4th in the trials but was put on the vets list and was not able to run in the finals. Now the poor thing is in Arizona and they wanted her shins pinfired as well as a couple little splints.
She didnt really want to go down smoothly! Should have known then that she had the potential to be a disaster.
The end for this filly, I thought!
On to the next horse which was just a routine castration!
He was better at liking his drugs!
And that was that for him!
As I walked around the filly I noticed that she had not yet been caslicked! They sew up the vagina most of the way to keep the from sucking air in the vagina when the run! She also still had her wolf teeth. So we waited for her to get up and then loaded her in the stocks.
And then down went the mare! What a wreck!
Oh my!!
Please dont break a leg!
Finally up!
Back to work!
Whew! All done! And I only got a little bit kicked
Thank goodness she has two months off!
